One of Burnley’s most notorious burglars now behind bars
A five year jail sentence was passed down last week to one of the worst offending criminals in Burnley.
The 37-year-old man, named as Daniel Delvin of Harling Street in the town, had been troubling Burnley police for a number of years.
Devlin was arrested after a burglary spree during January to fund his drug addiction. He attended Burnley Crown Court after admitting six accounts of burglary.
On each occasion the offences were committed while people were asleep in their properties.
Detective Inspector Martin Melvin of Lancashire Constabulary said:
“Devlin is a cowardly individual who targeted people’s homes as they slept. He is a prolific burglar and I am pleased we have managed to bring his crime wave to an end.
“We understand the devastating impact this intrusive crime can have on victims and although burglary is at its lowest in years, we will never lose focus. We are determined to take action to continue to target those people who invade your homes and steal your possessions.”
The criminal, along with at least one accomplice, managed to break in to the homes at night and stole a range of items from computer equipment and jewellery to cars during the raids.
Make sure your home is not another statistic, by ensuring the latest home security equipment is installed.
