Police launch investigation into Helperby burglary
North Yorkshire Police have been investigating a recent high-value burglary in the village of Helperby and have now called for anyone with information to come forward.
Enquiries have been on-going into the incident, which happened at the end of January, at a home on Main Street.
The burglary took place in the early hours of Saturday morning and the criminals managed to gain entry to the property by removing padlocks in the converted stable block.
The offenders managed to get away with stealing items such as petrol lawn mowers, bicycles, an engine and a cylinder, totalling around £3,500 in value.
The investigation is being led by PC Steve Robinson, who said:
“It is clear that the offenders were well prepared as they were able to gain access to a secure outbuilding and remove the property while the owners were asleep in the house.
“Due to the sheer bulk of the items that were stolen, the offenders will have had to use a large vehicle such as a transit-type van or flat-bed truck.
“To help our enquiries, I am appealing to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity or vehicles in the Helperby area at around the time of burglary on Saturday 29 January, and even in the days prior to the incident.”
It is because of incidents such as this that home alarms are so important. To safeguard your property and your valuables, make sure it is installed with the latest home security equipment.
